Curry Times

It's no secret that the Evernote I created for this trip was focused on two activities: Food and Hiking / Running. It was possible, I found, to do only these two things on the Cape and entirely fill our holiday.

I also recognized a challenge: Capetown has a tourist culture that has created many fancy restaurants yet the menus contain foods and experiences that I could enjoy at home. I then read some things that said much of South Africa's food culture had been lost due to Apartheid and, not surprisingly, this strengthened my resolve to find and enjoy foods that were not found under Michelin stars.

We were sitting around last night not really that hungry after our day of touring in TRULY tourist-y style (see Red-Bus post) when it was decided we needed to go out. Sam drove us around the corner to Aneesa's and two foods from my list were found!

Not very hungry turned rapidly into: I must eat. Everything.

Maybe next time we'll also have the Vienna Parcel? (Dave will have to message about this)

No pork here! Not even in the Vienna Parcel.

Food best enjoyed with your own litre of soda.

This is his very happy face.

Koesisters or Koeksisters? We're going for Koesister -
but not until tomorrow at Wembley -
Cape Malay style and not soaked in sugar syrup.

Daltjies - new to me and now a delicacy I will seek out!
